On Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th March 2018, Micklefield School marked its 90th birthday with a host of functions aimed at bringing together current pupils, parents, past pupils and the surrounding community.

An art exhibition and cocktail function saw pupils from as long ago as 1942 attending. Beautiful artworks created by the current pupils were proudly on display and it was a joyous occasion with much reminiscing and laughter about how things were back in the day at Micklefield when it first started in 1928 by Miss Beazley and Miss Wilson.

The summer picnic on the lawn was a relaxed affair that stretched on into the early evening to the sounds of 45 Reasons. The market was a buzz of fun and games and the Grade 6s showed off their entrepreneurship skills and raised R23 000 for their chosen charities. A few energetic games of Rounders (a sporting tradition that Micklefield has maintained throughout its years) kicked off the afternoon and the Micklefield old girls proved that they are still capable of wielding a bat to great effect.

Micklefield Magic, the delightful children’s book written by Deborah Gildenhuys and illustrated by Wendy Paterson, was launched for this special occasion.

Thank you to everyone that joined in the birthday celebrations and who has contributed to the magic of Micklefield for 90 years.
