Music Application 2025

If you want your daughter to learn an instrument in 2025 (new students AND returning students), please indicate your choices by completing this Google Form

Forms need to be submitted by 30 November 2024. Lessons are allocated on a first come, first served basis

2025 FEES

  • Group: R1 555 (30 minutes per week, 32 lessons per year) max 3 per group
  • Individual: R2 340 (1 Lesson/week, 30 minutes per week, 32 lessons per year) 
  • Individual: R4 680 (2 lessons/week, 60 minutes per week, 64 lessons per year)

Please note:

  • ALL students wanting to do music in 2025 need to complete the sign-up form (even if you were doing music this year)
  • If you are choosing multiple instruments, please note that the second instrument timeslot cannot be during class time (i.e: before, after school or during break).
  • Group Recorder lessons are compulsory in Grade 1 starting in the THIRD term @ R490 a term.

Holiday programs at Micklefield

Grade 3 – 7

Sandi Blackbeard and Sue Walker will be running the annual Great Summer Holiday Club from Monday, 9 December to Thursday, 12 December. This holiday club will include outings to:

  • the Muizenburg Water Slides,
  • The Clay Café,
  • BeUp,
  • as well as a day at Micklefield with fun activities. 

Hard copies of the signup forms were given to all interested girls. All forms and monies must be returned by Monday, 11 November in order to secure a spot!

Grade 00 – 2

Rebecca Zizi and Andisa Hlanza will be running their annual Holiday Club from Monday, 9 December to Friday, 13 December at Micklefield.  Hard copy forms have gone home with the girls and reply slips and monies must be returned by Thursday, 14 November in order to secure a spot!

Events

Grade 00 & 0 Play

We are excited to invite the Grade 00&0 families to Once Upon a Pond, a delightful performance starring our youngest students, who are eager to share their story; filled with wonder, joy, and a splash of pond-side magic. This will be a special opportunity to see the girls bring characters to life and showcase their budding talents.

Performance Details:

  • Date and Time: Friday, 15 November, at 9:00 am
  • Location: Micklefield School Hall
  • Arrival for Girls: Please ensure your daughter arrives by 8:20 am at the latest.
  • Doors Open for Parents: 8:45 am

Tickets are free, and we welcome all Grade 00&0 parents to come and enjoy this memorable event. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate our students’ hard work and creativity together.

Foundation Phase Production: The Velveteen Rabbit

We are thrilled to invite all Grade 1-3 families to our upcoming production of The Velveteen Rabbit, a heartwarming story brought to life by your daughters. Join us for an evening filled with imagination, joy, and a dash of magic as our students showcase their talents in this cherished classic, adapted and directed by our very own Mrs G!

Performance Details:

  • Parents’ Evening Performance: Thursday, 21 November, 6:00 pm
  • Special Grandparents’ Morning Performance: Friday, 22 November, 9:00 am (with a tea afterwards)

Tickets are free and seating is unreserved, and we welcome everyone to come and enjoy the show. For those who feel inspired to support our school further, we will have a SnapScan code available for donations, with all contributions going toward our Micklefield pool fund.

We look forward to celebrating the girls’ hard work together and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Sports & Extra-Murals

The updated 2025 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Ed-Admin Multi Portal App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning for the new year. All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer is available on the Ed-Admin Multi Portal App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

When planning extra-mural for 2025, please note that during terms 1 and 4, all classes from Grade 4 – 7 have a compulsory Sports Hour which takes place after school from 14.30 – 15.30 as follows:

  • Monday: Grade 5
  • Tuesday: Grade 7
  • Wednesday: Grade 6
  • Thursday: Grade 4

This falls away during terms 2 and 3 and is replaced with netball and hockey practices and matches.  Please see the sport programme for details.

TENNIS

The fixtures are available on the Ed-Admin Portal App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals. The last tennis fixtures are on Thursday, 21 November.  The last early morning practices will be on Monday, 18 November, Wednesday, 20 November and Friday,

22 November respectively.

FRIDAY GALA DATES AND VENUES:

15 Nov:  Pinehurst, Rhone Road, Pinelands

The last swimming practices will be on Tuesday, 19 November for both early morning and afternoon training.

Weekly Snapshot

Congratulations to Jamie Viljoen (turquoise) and Rosa Brotchie (maroon) who played in the U11 Inter-Zonal Tennis Tournament last weekend!

Grade 7 PSW: working with the Constitution, human rights and our system of government in South Africa. A big thank you to Legal Scholar & Advocate, Lauren Kohn (Olivia and Georgia-Mae Kohn-Goldschmidt’s mom) for coming in to chat with the girls.

Music Corner

Well done to our junior Violinists, Anna Bennett and Nina Vlok, for performing their duet so beautifully in assembly this week.
Congratulations to Jessi-Rae Joseph on receiving her Trinity Grade 1 Recorder certificate.
Well done to Juraida Mulder and Ghusnaa Abrahams on their lovely jazzy Recorder performance in senior assembly.
