Term 2 2025

  • Monday 16 June  NO SCHOOL (Public Holiday: Youth Day)
  • Tuesday 17 June
    • Grade 4 & 5 Science Expo
      • 18:00 -19:30, School Hall
      • Bertie’s Coffee Truck will be at school from 5pm-7.30pm
  • Wednesday 18 June
    • Interhouse Netball (Grades 3-7 during school)
    • Bertie’s Coffee Truck will be at school from 12 noon until 2.30pm and then again from 5pm-7.30pm.
      • The Girls will have time to buy from Bertie’s before the Interhouse Netball starts
    • Grade 6 & 7 Science Expo

Bertie’s Coffee

We’re excited to welcome Bertie’s Coffee Truck to Micklefield School next Tuesday and Wednesday

  • Tuesday: 5pm-7.30pm for the Science Expo
  • Wednesday:
    • 12 noon until 2.30pm 
      • For the girls to buy before Interhouse and parents at pickup time
    • 5pm-7.30pm for the Science Expo

Micklefield Turns 100 in 2028

We’re updating our database to reconnect with past pupils, families, and friends of the school in preparation for our centenary in 2028.

Snack Pack Orders – Term 3

It’s time to place your daughter’s Snack Pack order for Term 3. Orders can be made via the Karri App (under the Tuckshop Tab), and will close on Friday, 20 June.

Please note: No late orders will be accepted, so be sure to get your order in on time.

*Download the KARRI app from your app store and create an account using the email address you provided to the school. Orders will only be accepted via the KARRi App.

Tygerberg Art Centre exhibition

The Schools Exhibition 2025 is happening at the Tygerberg Art Centre.

It is now open and really worth a visit. If you cannot go during the week, there is a special Saturday time:

  • Saturday 21 June, 09:30-12:30

Grade 00&0

  • Theme: “A Touch of Nature”
  • Payment has already been made from the class kitty, but if you would like to contribute to the support staff end-of-year gift fund, you are welcome to do so via KARRI.

Grades 1-3

  • Theme: “A Touch of Nature”
  • Reminder: no crop tops or short shorts
  • Pay R30 on KARRI

Grades 4-7

  • Any civvies
    • Grade 4-7 are going to the Beach Cleanup
  • Reminder: no crop tops or short shorts
  • Pay R30 on KARRI

sports and extra murals

The updated 2025 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Ed-Admin Multi Portal App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning for the new year. All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer is available on the Ed-Admin Multi Portal App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

 

WINTER SPORT: 2ND AND 3rd TERMS:

Please put the winter sport information letter in a visible place so as to avoid unnecessary calls and Whatsapp messages.

  • Monday, 16 June:  Public Holiday
  • Wednesday, 18 June: Inter-House Matches at Micklefield: 12.40 – 14.20
    • This is compulsory for all Grade 3 – 7 pupils, regardless if they play netball or not.  It takes place during school time.  The girls are to come to school in their Phys Ed uniform, NO house t-shirts as they wear their colour house bib with the position on it for the matches.
    • The teams have been made available to the girls.

HOCKEY :

  • Tuesday, 17 June: Practice
    • U9: at Micklefield from 13.20 – 14.20
    • U10: at WPCC from 13.00 – 14.30
    • U11: at WPCC from 13.00 – 14.30
    • Open age group (U12 and U13): at WPCC from 12.15 – 13.45

The U10, U11 and Open age group teams travel by Springbok Atlas bus to WPCC.  Parents are please to collect at WPCC at 13.45 (Open teams) and at 14.30 (U10 and U11 teams).

  • Thursday, 19 June: Matches vs Springfield
    • U9 A, B and C at Micklefield
    • U10 A, B and C at Hartleyvale A astro
    • U11 A and B at Hartleyvale A astro
    • Open A and B at Springfield (11-a-side)

Congratulations to Alison Smith who completed her 9th comrades marathon on Sunday, a true inspiration to us all. Well done to all our Micklefield moms and dads who also took part in this mighty ultra-marathon.

Well done to all of our musicians who performed in the senior assembly this morning. 

We were delighted to experience truly amazing performances by the string ensemble, flute trio and recorder ensemble as well as a few piano solo pieces. Well done to all!

Kaapse Afrikaanse Virtual Eisteddfod: Singing 2025

Congratulations to our talented singers for performing their solos so well at the virtual Kaapse Afrikaanse Eisteddfod: Juliette, Zoe, Abigale, Jessi-Rae, Ella, Razina and Rosa.

Junior Holiday Club – Limited Spaces Available

Mrs Hlanza is offering a Junior Holiday Club at Micklefield School during the first week of the holidays, from Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July, at a cost of R250 per day. Sign-up forms were sent home today with the Grade 00–2 girls. If your daughter would like to attend, please return the completed form along with cash in a clearly marked envelope as soon as possible. Only 30 places are available, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

  • Date: 30 Monday June – Friday 4 July
  • Time: 08:30 – 13:30
  • Cost: R250 per day
  • Venue: Multifunction Room, Micklefield School
  • Dress: comfortable clothes, bring an apron

The Makery Holiday Craft Workshops

My name is Kim Snapper, and I am a local arts and crafts facilitator offering extra-mural craft lessons designed specifically for primary school children. I offer both weekly lessons and individual workshops. Our lessons are not only fun and creative but also help develop fine motor skills, patience, and self-expression in young learners.
