Reading for hope: Book Donation Appeal to support Young Readers in Bonteheuwel

We have been approached by one of our Micklefield grandparents who volunteers with Reading for Hope, a wonderful initiative supporting early literacy at EA Janari School in Bonteheuwel.

They are appealing for gently used simple readers such as Ladybird “Read It Yourself” books or any beginner reading material.

If you are able to contribute, please send books to the school office.

Your support will help open new worlds for these children—one book at a time. 📚✨

Gently Used Stationery Drive

If you have any gently used stationery at home that is no longer needed, we would be grateful to receive it.

Items such as pencils, crayons, pencil cases, scissors, rulers, or unused exercise books can make a meaningful difference to children who may not have access to these basic supplies.

Donations may be dropped off at the front office, and we will ensure that everything collected is passed on to schools and organisations where it is needed most.

Thank you for supporting our wider community in such a practical and generous way. ✏️💙

Micklefield Market feedback

A huge thank you to our Micklefield community for making this year’s Micklefield Market such a wonderful success.

From the buzzing stalls and delicious treats to the fantastic energy from our girls, parents, and staff — the day was filled with true Micklefield spirit. 💛✨

We are thrilled to share that, together, we managed to raise about R150 000 for the swimming pool fund! This is an incredible achievement, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity, hard work, and enthusiastic support.

We’re already looking ahead, and we’re excited to announce that the next Micklefield Market will return to its usual spot in the second term, taking place on 18 April 2026.

The Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra takes the stage this December with Voices of Home — its most expansive tour yet — celebrating the spirit and sound of South Africa. Led by global conducting icon Marin Alsop, and joined by South African captivating cellist Abel Selaocoe, the unmissable tour combines African soul with a reimagined classical tradition featuring Selaocoe’s Four Spirits Cello Concerto — a genre-defining work that channels ancient memory, contemporary rhythm, and the unmistakable pulse of home. The concert ends on an emotional high with Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2 which is renown for its lush melodies.
