๐Ÿซ rehearsal reminder ๐Ÿซ

The excitement is building โ€” our production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is now less than a month away.

With the final stretch approaching, it is essential that all girls attend the Saturday rehearsals so that they are fully prepared for the show.

If, for a valid reason, your daughter is unable to attend a Saturday rehearsal, please ensure that you provide the reason in writing to both the Director, Debora G, and the Headmistress, Audrey Gray.

Please note: if main cast members are absent from Saturday rehearsals without a valid written excuse from their parents, the school may be forced to replace them, as this impacts the entire cast and production.

We canโ€™t wait to see the magic come alive on stage โ€” thank you for supporting your daughters as they prepare for this unforgettable production.

๐ŸŒธ Spring Reading Bingo Challenge ๐ŸŒธ

We are thrilled to launch our very first Spring Reading Bingo Challenge at Micklefield. This fun initiative is designed to spark a love of reading while raising funds for our much-anticipated new swimming pool.

On Spring Day Monday (1 September), each girl will receive a Reading Bingo sheet filled with exciting book-related activities โ€” such as reading outdoors, reading a red book, or reading a joke book. Each completed challenge can be signed off by a parent, class teacher, or specialist teacher, and girls may complete as many sheets as they like.

๐Ÿ“š How it works:

  • Each completed sheet must be submitted to Mrs Peters in the library.

  • To enter the lucky draw, completed sheets need to be paid for via the Karri App (R250 per sheet).

  • Every paid entry counts as a lucky draw ticket.

๐ŸŽ Prizes include Exclusive Books vouchers and book hampers, generously sponsored by Exclusive Books. To keep things fair and fun, prizes will be awarded across four age categories:

  • Grades 00โ€“1

  • Grades 2 & 3

  • Grades 4 & 5

  • Grades 6 & 7

The challenge runs from 1 โ€“ 22 September, with the lucky draw happening on the last day of Term 3.

Letโ€™s get reading and make this an exciting and meaningful adventure for our girls.

Call for Donations

๐Ÿ“š Secondhand Book Stall โ€“ We Need Your Donations! ๐Ÿ†

The Grade 0s are asking all families to donate gently used books โ€“ for all ages โ€“ to the secondhand book stall.

To make it extra fun, weโ€™re turning it into a House Competition.

  • Each book donated = 1 point for your House.

Will it be the Robins, Kingfishers, or Swallows who come out on top?

You can donate books by dropping them off at the back of the hall, in your house box.

Start clearing those shelves and letโ€™s see which house can build the biggest book mountain! ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿงบ Bric-a-Brac Stall โ€“ Time to Declutter! โœจ

The Grade 3s are gearing up for their Bric-a-Brac Stall, and weโ€™re calling on all families to help fill the tables.

Weโ€™re collecting good-quality, pre-loved treasures โ€” think:

  • ornaments,
  • kitchenware,
  • toys,
  • dรฉcor,
  • gadgets,
  • games,
  • and all those bits and bobs you no longer need.

Drop your donations off in the foyer of the hall, and help us turn clutter into cash for a good cause.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Lucky Draw Prize Donations Needed! ๐ŸŽโœจ

The Grade 6s are preparing for the ever-popular Lucky Draw at the Micklefield Market, and weโ€™re looking for fabulous prizes to make it our best one yet.

Prizes can be big or small โ€” from vouchers, hampers, and beauty products to wine, homeware, or fun family experiences. Every donation helps make the draw exciting and supports our school.

If you or your business can contribute, please fill in the donations Google Form below.

Letโ€™s make this a Lucky Draw to remember!

Alumni Spotlight

Congratulations to Sophia Trout, a proud Micklefield alumni from the Grade 7 Class of 2022, who has been selected to represent South Africa at the upcoming Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships in Manzini, Eswatini this September.

We are incredibly proud of you, Sophia, and fondly remember your very first swimming days here at Micklefield. What a wonderful achievement โ€” the whole Micklefield community is cheering you on.

๐Ÿพ Grade 4 Birthday Outreach ๐Ÿพ

As part of the Birthday Outreach initiative, the Grade 4 girls collected dog food, worm pills, and de-fleaing agents to support the wonderful work of the WOOF Project.

The girls had a fantastic time delivering their donations this week and were delighted to see the difference their kindness and care can make for animals in need. What a meaningful way to celebrate and give back. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿถ

Grade 5 Birthday Outreach โ€“ Delta Primary

As part of our Birthday Outreach, the Grade 5 girls had a truly meaningful experience visiting Delta Primary. They were eager to serve tea and biscuits to the senior citizens (with a few laughs along the way as they learnt some tea- and coffee-making skills ๐Ÿ˜…). More importantly, they took the time to sit, chat, and listen, gaining a deeper understanding of the daily struggles faced by those living in poverty-stricken areas.

The Principal of Delta Primary was deeply touched that a school from Rondebosch had collected and parcelled food items for their community. In appreciation, he has invited our girls back later this term for a special tea and breakfast. The Grade 5s are already excited about the idea of returning โ€” with suggestions to play netball with the learners and spend time with the little ones during break.

A warm thank you to all our families for the generous donations. They were received with heartfelt gratitude and truly made a difference.

Congratulations to the U11A Netball team who had a good victory against Herschel on Wednesday
