A Thoughtful Reminder for Drop-Off and Pick-Up

A gentle reminder to our Micklefield parents to please be mindful of our neighbours during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Kindly ensure that driveways are not blocked and that cars are parked safely and considerately. Let’s continue to show respect and care for our wider community — thank you for your cooperation.

Library Notice

Please note that the library will be conducting its annual stock take at the end of this term. As a result, no library books may be taken out from Monday, 17 November.

We kindly ask that all school library books be returned by Friday, 21 November. After this date, any missing or unreturned books will, unfortunately, be billed to parents’ accounts.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our library collection complete and ready for the new year.

Woolworths MyDifference.

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and WRewards have joined to create one bigger and better ‘get’ and ‘give’ loyalty programme – Woolworths MyDifference.

The aim is to empower our customers to support the causes they care about and to really see the positive impact of our collective support.

We will be phasing out our plastic cards and introducing a new virtual MyDifference card on our app.

MySchool and WRewards cards will remain valid until 31 March 2026 (date subject to change). Starting 1 April 2026, these cards will no longer work.

Please download the Woolworths App and register for their new virtual MyDifference program, and select Micklefield School as your cause to keep supporting us.

Call for Recorder Donations

Do you have an old recorder lying around? The University of Cape Town is looking for recorder donations to help their music outreach program.

If you have a gently used instrument that you no longer need, please consider donating it – your recorder could bring the joy of music to a student who needs it. Donations can be dropped off at the school office.

events

The much-loved Shimmy and Slice is back for 2025. Get ready for an evening of fun, laughter, and lots of dancing!

Traditionally, our Grade 5 girls invite their dads to join them on the dance floor, but we know this isn’t always possible. Girls are welcome to bring along any special adult in their lives—whether it’s a grandfather, uncle, or another family member.

This year, we will be having fun with some Country and Western Line Dancing. And of course, no Micklefield event would be complete without pizza to fuel the fun!

Book your space on KARRI before 2 November—don’t miss out on this unforgettable evening of music, movement, and memories.

Noor wins Lions District peace poster contest

We are thrilled to announce that Noor, in Grade 7, has won first place in both the local and the district level of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest, a competition spanning the Western Cape and Namibia.

Noor’s winning entry embodied this year’s theme, “Together as One”, with a powerful piece of art showing puzzle‑pieces and flags uniting, alongside an image of a figure helping a boy score a basketball — symbolising that “everyone needs support to reach their goals”.

This achievement is a wonderful reflection of Noor’s creativity, insight and commitment.

A special thank-you also needs to go to our talented art teacher, Mrs Shutz, for nurturing creativity and helping our girls shine artistically.
