A message from the Knitting Fairies

‘A huge thank you to regular contributions from Friends , Families and Learners of Micklefield. Perfect for this cold weather. Please note that I will be accepting last contributions on Tuesday, 5 August, for the year. Just want to say another thank you to you all who have. Without you, none of this would have been possible.’

IMPORTANT UPDATE: MySchool is transitioning to MyDifference

Earlier this year, Woolworths announced the merger of the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet programme with WRewards, creating a new app-based loyalty programme – Woolworths MyDifference.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ The updated Woolworths app is now available, but MyDifference is being rolled out gradually.

✅ From July–October 2025, Woolworths will continue to support Causes like Micklefield by maintaining monthly payments based on July–October 2024 income, with an average growth percentage applied. Customer selections will officially take effect in November 2025, meaning changes to payments will only be seen from December onwards.

✅ Cause reselection window
Once MyDifference officially launches, customers will have a three-month window (until the end of October) to select their preferred Cause. This ensures intentional and meaningful support going forward.

✅ You can still swipe your existing MySchool card during this transition period, but we encourage you to prepare to reapply on the Woolworths app once the programme fully launches.

Thank you for your continued support and together, we’ll ensure Micklefield continues to benefit from this wonderful initiative.

Mickayla House and Micklefield Aquatics Centre

Mickayla House & Aquatics Centre – Project Update

Planning for the exciting Mickayla House (the new ECD centre named after the special Grade 00 bear) and Micklefield Aquatics Centre development is moving forward. Our architects are currently working on the traffic assessment, a key step before we can begin the formal and often lengthy process of getting the plans approved by the city.

At this stage, we do not yet have a final costing, as this will only be confirmed once the plans have been officially approved, but we are looking at between 8 and 10 million to start with. We are committed to keeping our community informed and will continue to share updates as the project progresses.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work toward creating these inspiring new spaces for our girls.

weekly snapshot

The Grade 7 debating team took part in a debate at Zwaanswyk Academy.

The motion:
Cyberbullying between students should be investigated by the police instead of schools.

Micklefield proposed the motion and we won the debate.

Asma was named the best speaker for their round.

Our U10 netball girls took part in a festival held at Sun Valley Primary on Saturday.  Each team played 5 matches, winning some and losing some. They learnt a lot from each match and enjoyed the rather chilly morning of netball.

Grade 3: States of Matter Activity

Grade 4s stepped into the role of teachers, teaching the Grade 6s long division

Grade 3: experiencing play therapy

This morning, we were fortunate to have visiting play therapist Jessica Mayson join our class for the first of three Drama Therapy sessions. The focus of today’s session was on working together, making compromises, cooperating, and most importantly — having fun.

Maths Challenge

Congratulations to Kiera (Grade 5) and Emma D (Grade 6) on advancing to Round 3 of the South African Maths Challenge, which will be taking place in September.
