🌸 Spring Reading Bingo Challenge 🌸

We are thrilled to launch our very first Spring Reading Bingo Challenge at Micklefield. This fun initiative is designed to spark a love of reading while raising funds for our much-anticipated new swimming pool.

On Spring Day Monday (1 September), each girl will receive a Reading Bingo sheet filled with exciting book-related activities — such as reading outdoors, reading a red book, or reading a joke book. Each completed challenge can be signed off by a parent, class teacher, or specialist teacher, and girls may complete as many sheets as they like.

📚 How it works:

  • The challenge runs  from 1 to 14 September, and the funds raised will go towards our new pool.
  •  The same book can be used for multiple challenges, but of course, the more books you read, the more fun you will have.
  •  Some challenges will be completed in class and will be signed off by a teacher, and some challenges can be completed at home and signed off by a parent/guardian.
  •  A completed sheet (all sheets are official and numbered) along with a payment of R250 on KARRI (on or before 15 September) will give you an entry into a lucky hamper draw sponsored in part by Exclusive Books.
    • The more sheets completed and paid for on KARRI, the more entries go into the draw.
  • All Reading Bingo sheets are to be returned to Mrs Peters, whether completed or not, on or before 15 September.
  •  Each class that has every girl complete and pay for their Reading Bingo sheet will receive a special class reward that they will choose with their teacher.

To keep things fair and fun, prizes will be awarded across four age categories:

  • Grades 00–1

  • Grades 2 & 3

  • Grades 4 & 5

  • Grades 6 & 7

The challenge runs from 1 – 14 September, with the lucky draw happening on the last day of Term 3.

Let’s get reading and make this an exciting and meaningful adventure for our girls.

Call for Donations

🧺 Bric-a-Brac Stall – Time to Declutter! ✨

The Grade 3s are gearing up for their Bric-a-Brac Stall, and we’re calling on all families to help fill the tables.

We’re collecting good-quality, pre-loved treasures — think:

  • ornaments,
  • kitchenware,
  • toys,
  • décor,
  • gadgets,
  • games,
  • and all those bits and bobs you no longer need.

Drop your donations off in the foyer of the hall, and help us turn clutter into cash for a good cause.

🎟️ Lucky Draw Prize Donations Needed! 🎁✨

The Grade 6s are preparing for the ever-popular Lucky Draw at the Micklefield Market, and we’re looking for fabulous prizes to make it our best one yet.

Prizes can be big or small — from vouchers, hampers, and beauty products to wine, homeware, or fun family experiences. Every donation helps make the draw exciting and supports our school.

If you or your business can contribute, please fill in the donations Google Form below.

Let’s make this a Lucky Draw to remember!

To pledge a prize, fill in the Google Form HERE

📚 Secondhand Book Stall – We Need Your Donations! 🏆

The Grade 0s are asking all families to donate gently used books – for all ages – to the secondhand book stall.

To make it extra fun, we’re turning it into a House Competition.

  • Each book donated = 1 point for your House.

Will it be the Robins, Kingfishers, or Swallows who come out on top?

You can donate books by dropping them off at the back of the hall, in your house box.

Start clearing those shelves and let’s see which house can build the biggest book mountain! 📖💪

On Thursday, 4 September some of the U12 girls played in the 8-a-side Bishops Day/Night Hockey Tournament.  The girls played 3 pool matches and then cross pool play-offs, which was very exciting, finishing with showdowns which took us to the final match.

They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing under lights, together with the great spirit and excitement this tournament brings!
