We are thrilled to launch our very first Spring Reading Bingo Challenge at Micklefield. This fun initiative is designed to spark a love of reading while raising funds for our much-anticipated new swimming pool.
On Spring Day Monday (1 September), each girl will receive a Reading Bingo sheet filled with exciting book-related activities — such as reading outdoors, reading a red book, or reading a joke book. Each completed challenge can be signed off by a parent, class teacher, or specialist teacher, and girls may complete as many sheets as they like.
📚 How it works:
To keep things fair and fun, prizes will be awarded across four age categories:
Grades 00–1
Grades 2 & 3
Grades 4 & 5
Grades 6 & 7
The challenge runs from 1 – 14 September, with the lucky draw happening on the last day of Term 3.
Let’s get reading and make this an exciting and meaningful adventure for our girls.
The Grade 3s are gearing up for their Bric-a-Brac Stall, and we’re calling on all families to help fill the tables.
We’re collecting good-quality, pre-loved treasures — think:
Drop your donations off in the foyer of the hall, and help us turn clutter into cash for a good cause.
The Grade 6s are preparing for the ever-popular Lucky Draw at the Micklefield Market, and we’re looking for fabulous prizes to make it our best one yet.
Prizes can be big or small — from vouchers, hampers, and beauty products to wine, homeware, or fun family experiences. Every donation helps make the draw exciting and supports our school.
If you or your business can contribute, please fill in the donations Google Form below.
Let’s make this a Lucky Draw to remember!
To pledge a prize, fill in the Google Form HERE
The Grade 0s are asking all families to donate gently used books – for all ages – to the secondhand book stall.
To make it extra fun, we’re turning it into a House Competition.
Will it be the Robins, Kingfishers, or Swallows who come out on top?
You can donate books by dropping them off at the back of the hall, in your house box.
Start clearing those shelves and let’s see which house can build the biggest book mountain! 📖💪
On Friday, 29 August, our Open C team took part in a 8-a-side hockey festival hosted by Cannons Creek at Hartleyvale. The girls played 6 matches, improving with each game, with our defence standing very firm! Good job, girls!
Well done to our Open A and B Hockey teams who participated in the PGSGU Inter-Schools Hockey Tournament.
The A team played on Monday, 1 September, and they played 7 x 18-minute matches over the course of the afternoon, showing good skills and team work. The A team finished 8/8.
The B team played on Tuesday, 2 September, and they also played 7 x 18-minute matches over the course of the afternoon, showing good skills and team work. The B team finished 5/8.
On Thursday, 4 September some of the U12 girls played in the 8-a-side Bishops Day/Night Hockey Tournament. The girls played 3 pool matches and then cross pool play-offs, which was very exciting, finishing with showdowns which took us to the final match.
They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing under lights, together with the great spirit and excitement this tournament brings!
Emma and Mr Vavatzanidis performed a lovely guitar duet in senior assembly, and Sophie performed a lively flute solo thereafter.
Well done to our junior recorder girls who performed so well at the recent eisteddfod. It was the first time our Grade 2’s participated in this and we are so proud of them.
And a special commendation to our Grade 3 recorder trio for achieving a distinction in the “Small Ensembles” category for Primary Schools.
An impressive number of music students entered the WCVE, receiving an even more impressive amount of “Cum Laude” certificates in their categories.
For many, they attained a personal best.
Congratulations to Eliza, Mila and Emily on receiving their Trinity College London theory certificates.
The Grade 3s have been having so much fun performing their own Science Experiments.
Did you know you could make a rocket out of a bottle and electricity from a lemon?
Grade 4s had great fun creating musical instruments from waste materials as part of their Investigating Sounds science project.
