At Micklefield, we provide a broad-based education committed to the development of academic excellence, creative thinking and effective communication skills. Each child’s individual potential is developed through differentiated teaching in intimate classes. With one class per grade and a maximum of 26 girls per class, every girl is given the opportunity to shine!
The girls are educated to think creatively, innovatively and flexibly and to engender empathy and consideration for others. The highest academic standards are set and Micklefield girls are thoroughly prepared for and sought after by prestigious high schools.
Micklefield follows the principles set out by the National Curriculum Statement from Grade 00-7. A team of hardworking, committed and passionate teachers implement the curriculum in a creative, inspiring and relevant manner.
Learners are further supported by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a full-time Learning Support Therapist and a part-time, private Occupational Therapist.

Girls are given every opportunity to embrace learning outside the classroom as they go on numerous outings throughout the year, participate in international online competitions, inter-school quizzes and festivals.
There is a strong emphasis on developing life skills and senior girls are involved in a pro-active and effective Leadership Committee and are given extensive training as Peer Mediators. Each Grade 7 is placed in a portfolio committee for the year. The Leadership Programme includes a Conflict Resolution Workshop for the Grade 6s and a Grade 7 Leadership Camp which is a much anticipated highlight for the girls in their final year of Primary School.
Micklefield runs a 6 month Grade 6 Entrepreneurial Programme where the girls can choose to be involved in a business venture, where they can make a profit, or they can choose to do a service or community outreach project. The focus is on the individual child and on supporting and developing the girls’ own passions and interests.
The aim of the programme is to promote the entrepreneurial mindsets and incorporate the Habits of Mind. The girls that choose to be involved in this programme work really hard and show great initiative, persistence and compassion.
Micklefield focusses on developing the following critical thinking skills across all grades and learning areas:
