5KM WALK FUNDRAISER AT DE GRENDEL

Tomorrow, Saturday, 15 October is our 5KM FUN WALK at De Grendel Estate.  All sponsorship forms should have been handed in, but if anyone is still wanting to donate, there will be a snapscan facility at the walk on Saturday.  Thank you for your generous support, we are fundraising for a school bus!  We look forward to seeing all our Micklefield families there!

Some reminders:

  • The walk starts promptly at 08.30!  Please sign in on the class list provided
  • No dogs and prams
  • Bring your own water bottle
  • Coffee, muffins and Lays chips on sale – snapscan preferred payment

Here are the final sales of the year:

SNACK PACK TERM 4

A reminder that any changes to Term 4 Snack Pack orders can be e-mailed directly to Esther Steyn on Esther.Steyn@idmgroup.co.za no later than Monday 17 October.

SECOND-HAND UNIFORM

There will be one more second-hand uniform sale towards the end of the Term. Recent sales have been very successful and stock is low. All donations will be gratefully received and can be handed in at reception.

SUMMER UNIFORM

Monday 24 October is the official changeover to summer uniform.

OUTLIERS STATIONERY DRIVE

Please consider donating any unwanted gently used, good-quality stationery to Outliers for their after-school programmes. 20 house points will be awarded for every donation brought to the class teacher.

The 2022 sports teams and cultural group photographs are now available for purchase from www.thatsme.co.za Please note that you will only be able to view any team photos that your daughter appears in / is tagged in. Individual portraits and class photos are also still available.

sport & extra-murals

Please check the Term 4 schedule (Edana App under Documentation) for the summer sport programme.  There are some day and time changes, especially the U8, U9 and U10 gala swimming.

SPORTS HOUR – TERM 4: GRADE 3 – 7

A reminder that the compulsory Sport Hour resumes in Term 4.  This is part of the Phys Ed curriculum and is compulsory for all girls in these grades.

Grade 3:               Tuesdays             13.30 – 14.30

Grade 4:               Thursdays           14.30 – 15.30

Grade 5:               Mondays             14.30 – 15.30

Grade 6:               Wednesdays      14.30 – 15.30

Grade 7:               Tuesdays             14.30 – 15.30

The Sports Hour will start on Monday, 17 October.

TENNIS

Early morning practices are up and running.  All team players have been given a hard copy of the fixtures.  These are also available on the Adana App.  Please note that the team lists and venues will go out on the class Whatsapp groups every Monday.  Venues are subject to the number of courts available for each school.

Please see our Micklefield Tennis Academy Term 4 Programme (Edana App – Documentation). For those who would like to improve on their tennis skills, please book your spot for this extra coaching.

SWIMMING

Gala training will resume from Tuesday, 18 October with the afternoon sessions for U8, U9 and U10 at RGHS pool from 16.30 – 17.30 and the early morning sessions for the U11s, U12s and U13s at the RBHS pool from 06.45 – 07.30.

Swimming letters with all the information have been sent home as well as the indemnity forms for the U11s, U12s and U13s.  Those indemnity forms should have been returned by Friday, 14 October.

FRIDAY GALA DATES:

  • Fri, 28 October at Oakhurst
  • Fri, 4 November at St Cyprians
  • Fri, 11 November at WGJS
  • Fri, 18 November at Herschel Senior School pool
  • Fri, 25 November at Oakhurst

If any pupils would like to try out for the gala squad, please attend the first practice for that age group –

  • U8, U9 and U10 – RGHS pool, Tuesday, 18 January  16.30 – 17.30
  • U11, U12 and U13 – RBHS pool, Tuesday, 18 January  6.45 – 07.30

In preparation for the De Grendel 5km Walk,  Mrs B was treated on her set-up rekke to a close-up of some of the estate animals. 

There was a great turnout for Asma Dawood’s Tuckshop on Friday as part of her fundraising for the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. Thank you to all who supported!

The Micklefield Class of 2017 joined us for their Matric Reunion Tea. It was a happy afternoon of girls, parents, and staff coming together to share memories and celebrate the incredible achievements of our past pupils. We wish them everything of the best for their finals and every success as they step out into the world.
