Admissions Procedure

Prospective parents are encouraged to visit the school and meet with the headmistress for an informal, personalised tour. At this stage the general and specific needs of the child can be discussed. The child’s needs are our foremost priority and it is important that she benefit by being enrolled at Micklefield.

Should you wish to enrol your daughter/s at Micklefield, you will need to complete the online application process. This involves completing the online application form, paying the non-refundable enrolment fee of R400, and providing all required supporting documents.

All prospective pupils are initially placed on a waiting list.

Grade 00 Application

At the beginning of each year, 23 pupils are selected for Grade 00. Applicants need not be tested; however, vacancies are filled at the discretion of the headmistress according to the following criteria:

  • Siblings
  • Age of pupil when application was made
  • Diversity
  • Area/relocation
  • Needs of the pupil
  • Past pupils (if a prospective pupil’s mother was at Micklefield for her full primary school years)

On acceptance, Grade 00 parents are notified in writing at the end of the first term. Successful applicants confirm their places by completing an Acceptance of Place form and paying the non-refundable placement fee. A second round of acceptances takes place in the second term if further places become available due to parents not accepting the places offered during the first round.

Unsuccessful applicants are requested to reply in writing if they want their names kept on the waiting list.

Application for Grade 00 (age 4 turning 5):

Year child is born

Year to enter Grade 00

Grade 0 – 7 Application

There are 26 places in Grades 0–7. It is assumed the 23 Grade 00 children will take the first 23 places for Grade 0, leaving three possible vacancies. The same selection criteria are followed for Grade 0 pupils.

If a vacancy arises during the course of the year, applicants on the waiting list will be advised in writing should they be offered a place.

Should vacancies arise in Grades 1–7, assessments are conducted to assess prospective pupils’ readiness for the grade.

Financial Aid

Limited assistance for financial aid is considered for Grade 00 and Grade 0. This is in line with the diversity imperative of the school. Please contact Shamiela Naidoo (Admissions Secretary) for the relevant information and forms: or 021 6856494
