DE GRENDEL SAVE THE DATE!

The 5km De Grendel Walk on Saturday 15 October will be our kick-start fundraising event for our School Bus.   Please watch out for the sponsorship forms which will be sent home with your daughter/s next week.

SCHOOL BUS

We have been looking at various options to alleviate some of the transport challenges for parents during the school day and have decided to purchase a 28 seater school bus. If you have any contacts, please send details to joanne@micklefield.co.za

Our school bus will be used for class outings, tours, camps and sports matches where possible.  We will still be using the Springbok Atlas bus to transport our Grade 4-7 girls to hockey practice on Tuesdays at WPCC and we will also have a Springbok Atlas bus to transport our Grade 5-7 girls to netball practices on Mondays at RGHS.

HERITAGE CIVVIES & BRAAI DAY

Save the Date for our celebration of Heritage Day on Monday 26 September. Pay R20 (cash/snapscan) for a Proudly SA Civvies Day. See flyer below for all the details.

OUTLIERS STATIONERY DRIVE

We are supporting Outlier’s annual stationery drive for gently used, good quality stationery. Please see the flyer below and support this very worthy cause. 20 house points will be awarded for every donation brought to the class teacher. Thank you for your support!

SNACK PACK FUNDRAISER

We are looking at alternative options to the hotdogs for 2023 Snackpack, which do not require preparation. Please send your suggestions and contacts in this regard to accounts@micklefield.co.za

LOST PROPERTY

We have a huge amount of unclaimed lost property.  Items with names have been returned to pupils, but we still have a pile of unmarked fleeces, tracksuit tops and pants as well as water bottles and lunch boxes.  These will be put out outside the foyer for next week, Monday, 12th – Friday, 16th from 12.15 – 15.30.  After that, all items will be donated to the Second Hand Shop.  Going forward all unmarked items will be given directly to the Second Hand Shop.  Spot checks for names on all items will also be done.

SCHOOL SHOP

Please note that the school shop has the following new stock in the shop: scarf and new beanies; black shoes, long, grey trousers

Special congratulations to Gadija Solomons who won the top goal scorer trophy at the Day/Night Hockey Tournament!
Thanks to our Grade 2 parents who marshalled on the route for the Grade 2 cross country this week!

Weekly snapshots

We are immensely proud of the Micklefield community for their contribution to the Beanies for Bridges outreach initiative. In collaboration with 'Knitting Fairies,' they have reached their target of 800 beanies for at-risk teenagers. Micklefield staff, parents and grandparents contributed a whopping 529 beautiful beanies towards this total. We will gladly accept beanie contributions until the end of this term and they will go to the young mother project run by the Thula Baba project. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this initiative.
Ms Gray taught the Foundation Phase girls about digging deeper, putting in effort and giving of their best in Assembly on Monday. She used the analogy of filling a jar with marbles, then sand, then water to show the girls that even if we think that we've done all we can, there may still be room to do more!
The Grade 7s tackle a Breakout Room in Technology. Working together to solve the clues, cracking the codes on a Google Form.

Dem bones, dem bones, gonna walk around......
The Grade 1s and 2s enjoyed an outing to The Artscape this week! They watched a performance of Kipper and the Secret. 🎭
We were delighted by our junior pianists’ performances in Assembly on Monday morning. Well done to: Scarlett Buys, Olivia Dunsby, Keira Lee Pan, Audrey and Bianca Quinn.

All in a days work in Grade 00!
