Vision Screening with Wayne Hodgkinson

Vision screening forms have been sent home to all grades. The vision screening will take place from 1-3 March 2023. Please return the form together with fee of R90 in anย envelopeย with the child’s name and grade clearly marked in front by Wednesday 15 February. Forms are available on the Edana App under Documentation.

late arrivals

Please ensure that your daughter/s arrives on time for school. This should be at least 5 minutes before the start of her school day. Consistent late arrivals are disruptive to the girl and class concerned. Thank you for your support with this.

School bags

We have noticed a number of non-school branding creeping in on school bags. With regards to school bags (Gr 1-7), our uniform policy states that girls may use the Micklefield branded school bag available from the School Shop or a plain school bag without any branding may also be used.ย

Gr 1 & 2 Swimming costumes

Lighter pink swimming costumes are being sold at the School Shop for R150.00 each. Size 24 and Size 26 are available in this older stock which should fit Grade 2.

This is a compulsory event for all the pupils in our school.ย  It is an early start at 07.00 with the House marches and the first event getting underway immediately after that.ย  The Grade 00 and Grade 0 classes are the only grades who may leave at the tea-break, approximately 09.15.ย  The rest of the school remains until the end with prize-giving at approximately 11.30/11.45.ย  Please see the order of events under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals.

The class reps will be asking for assistance with roster duties for bacon and egg duty as well as the Halaal boerewors rolls and the cooldrink stand.ย  Please all get on board in order to make this a success.ย

All information regarding the gala, together with the team list will be sent out on Wednesday via your class Whatsapp group.

HOCKEY TOUR TRIALS:

Trials for the Knysna hockey tour will be held on Saturday, 11 February at the Bishops Senior School Astro from 08.30 โ€“ 11.30.ย  Any U12 and U13 girls who would like to try out, must attend. ย A letter has been sent home as well as a whatsapp message with all the relevant information.ย  We will have at least 2 senior full field hockey teams this season and we will need at least 2 goalies.ย  We cannot play without goalies so please chat to your daughters about this position if they are keen.

Congratulations to the Open A tennis team on their straight win over WGJS A last Thursday, a good start to the season! Sofiya Variawa, Sophie Burchell, Leah Prins and Ava Brotchie
Micklefield took part in their first gala of the season last Friday at Pinehurst Primary. Well done to the Grade 2s who swam for the first time! Elle Barr, Audrey Quinn, Grace Stein, Alia Hendrickse and Thea Boers

weekly snapshots

Here is a sweet poem that you could read to your daughter(s) to re-emphasize responsibility and being responsible.

In Assembly this week the Foundation Phase girls discussed the value of Responsibility and being Responsible.ย  We discussed what responsibility means, how to be responsible, showing responsibility to others and related this to real-life, daily experiences.ย Two beautifully painted responsibility rocks were hidden around the school and had been found by Wednesday afternoon.

Thank you to Olivia Goldschmidt for her beautiful piano solo in junior assembly ๐ŸŽต
Thank you to Ava Klerk, Leilah Joseph and Samiha Ally for their beautiful piano solos in Senior Assembly ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽต

Grade 1s were super Lego builders in Computers, this week. They collaborated on making their snow mobiles beautifully. Next week, we will bring them to life by coding them!
