2023 Sport & Extra-Mural Programme

The 2023 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning.

PRIVATELY RUN EXTRA-MURALS: ALL GRADES (00 – 7)

All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer are available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

TENNIS PRACTICES:

For private tennis lessons, please find the BVTS Micklefield Tennis Academy information in the Adana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  We are wanting one coaching style for our girls so we can build our teams to be strong and competitive.  Early morning tennis practices for this term will finish on Friday, 17 March.

SPORTS HOUR: GRADE 4 – 7

The last week of Sports Hour will be the week of Monday 13 – Thursday, 16 March.  There will be no Sports Hour for Grade 4 – 7 in the last two weeks of school.  The Grade 3 Sport Hour continues as usual as it is during the school day.

GALA SWIMMING:

Well done to all our gala swimmers who took part in the PGSGU Inter-Schools gala on Monday, 6 March.  It was a freezing afternoon at the Herschel Senior School pool, but our swimmers did us proud, finishing 8th overall by only 2 points.  We might not have brought home any trophies, but the girls were gutsy and gave their all and showed that even without our own pool, we can still be competitive.

weekly snapshots

Leah, Ella, and Anna in Grade 6 are supporting LEAPS - an animal rescue organization for their Entrepreneur project. There they are volunteering for LEAPS at the Kirstenbosch market. They would like to ask everyone to please bring donations and put them in a box next to their stall at the Micklefield Market. Anything from cans of dog food to old blankets and toys.
The Grade 6s were challenged in computers this week and had to code their robots to navigate a maze without touching the objects!
Well done to our Junior Musicians: • (back) Zoe Cole (Theory certificate), Tallulah Vos (Violin) • (front) Dani O'Ryan (Piano) and Olivia Dunsby (Cello) for their sterling performances in Junior Assembly this week.
We were treated to such a splendid display of musical talent in Senior Assembly this morning. Thank you to the following musicians for brightening the day: Back row: Samiha Ally (Piano), Ava Klerck (Piano), Ava Brotchie (Singing) and Noor Bray (Piano) Middle row: Rania Parker (Flute), Ellie Gasa (Singing), Victoria Morkel (Piano) and Lise Muller (Singing) Front row: Jessi-Rae and Leilah Joseph (Recorder duet), Beatrix Bryan (Cello) and Joanna Twycross (Violin)

A huge thank you to everyone for making our annual Sports Day such a success!  From the opening marches, organized by the House Captains, to the wonderful spirit of both the girls and parents, it was a great day!

The 1.5km cross country for Grade 3 – 7 was run on Friday, 3 March with the Kingfishers winning, the Robins in 2nd place and the Swallows in 3rd place.  The Spirit Trophy was won by the Robins and the overall Sports Day trophy was scooped up by the Kingfishers with 165 points, followed by the Robins with 154 points and the Swallows with 131 points.
