Micklefield is recruiting for a Foundation Phase and an INTERSEN Phase Intern for 2024 and also for a Cleaner to join our Support Staff in September 2023. Adverts can be found on the Edana App under Documents. Please share with anyone you feel may be suitable.

Scoliosis Screening

Angie Lander Biokinetics is offering scoliosis screening at Micklefield to the Grade 4 class. If you would like your daughter/s in a different grade screened, the information letter and sign-up form can be found on the Edana App, under Documents. The consent form is to be returned to the class teacher by 17 August and payment made directly to the practice.

GR 6 ENTEPRENEUR initiatives

Cross Country Ice Bites: The Tackle Trio will be selling Ice Bites after Cross Country on a Wednesday for Grades 3-7 for R80. They are supporting the Sporting Chance Foundation. The Sporting Chance Foundation goes into under-resourced communities and teaches the children there how to play sport. Please see the flyer below and click on the order form to place your order: Ice-Bite Order Form

Snack Pack for Madagascar Rehearsals: This sale is in the support of a charity called Wild Rescue. Wild is a nonprofit organisation and 100% of our profit is going to help this wonderful charity to preserve not only the Western Cape’s animals, but the flora as well. Written by Lisa Muller and Amy Carlson. BLING DAY – 29 August 2023

Get collecting and bring your small change (10c, 20c, 50x, R1, R2 & R5 coins) every day to school and pop into your class Bling Day Jar! All proceeds go to our Bursary Fund.

Micklefield’s Shocking Pink will be hosting a collaborative concert with the Cape Town Camerata (formerly the Cape Town Youth Choir), one of South Africa's highly acclaimed premier choirs, directed by Leon Starker.

  • Friday, 25 August : Inter-Schools Cross Country Competition at RGHS : Grade 4-7 – fast group (girls will be selected)
  • Friday, 1 September : Bishops Day/Night U12 Hockey Tournament – girls will be selected
  • Wednesday, 6 September : Inter-Schools Netball Tournament at St Cyprians for U12A and U13A
  • Monday, 11 September : Inter-Schools A Hockey Tournament at WGJS
  • Tuesday, 12 September : Inter-Schools B Hockey Tournament at WGJS

CROSS COUNTRY GRADE 1 – 7                       

There are no more official cross country races on Fridays, but nearer the Inter-Schools Competition, there will be some practice runs for the Grade 4- 7 fast group girls who are in the Inter-Schools team.  The Inter-Schools Competition will be held at RGHS on Friday, 25 August. Details to follow.

TENNIS: Congratulations to Sophie Burchell  who represented the Cape Town A tennis team in the school holidays when they played against Boland, playing doubles and mixed doubles.  The Cape Town team came out the winners!
HOCKEY: The U9A and B teams and the U10A team took part in a hockey festival held at Herschel Prep on Friday, 4 August.  The girls got to play a number of matches over the afternoon, learning as they went along!
HOCKEY: The U11A hockey team took part in the Twilight Hockey Tournament held at Herschel on Friday, 4 August.  They played pool matches and then for positions in the cross-pool play offs.  The competition was tough and our girls learnt to play right to the final whistle!

Everyone loves a bake sale day! Our Gr 6 entrepreneurs honed their business skills and raised funds for their partner organisations – LEAPS, Greenpeace and WOOF Project

Our Foundation Phase were captivated by Gilly Southwood’s storytelling, perfectly accompanied by PJs and hot chocolate. The Grade 00s kept warm and cozy inside.
