During the week of 15-19 August, Micklefield will be celebrating it’s 94th Birthday! Each class will participate in an outreach activity to give back to the broader community with a Birthday Beanie Civvies Day on Friday 19th. Thank you for all to the wonderful knitters for taking up our Birthday Beanie challenge. 80 Beanies have already been donated to the Bridges Retreat Centre in Franschhoek and we are hoping to donate another 80 by the end of our Birthday week. The Grade 6s are also doing a teddy collection drive for the Red Cross Children’s Hospital – see the flyer below – it’s not too late to donate a preloved teddy!
Shocking Pink will be performing in a concert alongside highly regarded adult ensemble, Vocal Unity. This year we celebrate a family connection as Linda Eedes, mother of Rebecca, and Andrea Huggett, aunt of Jamie Henchie, are members of Vocal Unity. Tickets will be sold at the door for R50 each. Father Terry Lester from Christ Church Constantia would like the proceeds to go to the Constantia Heritage and Education Project (CHEP), which serves disadvantaged former residents of Constantia who were victims of forced removals under the Apartheid Regime. We invite the Micklefield community to support this live event:
Please be advised that due to increased website hosting and storage costs, all school photos up to and including 2020 will be permanently removed from the That’s Me website on 31 August 2022. This includes 2020 school photos as well as all preceding years images (FOR ALL GRADES), including: Individual portraits; Class photos; Sports teams; Cultural groups and School productions. Please place final orders (on the website) before 31 August 2022 to ensure you secure photos of your child’s school career before they are removed.
On Wednesday, 17 August the Sport and Cultural photographs will be taken during the school day. Please see the information under Documentation, Sport for all the details. Please ensure that your daughter has the correct uniforms for her photographs and that her hair is neatly tied back. The correct hair accessories must be worn.

This term there will be Cross Country races taking place every Friday organized by different schools at different venues. Details for each week will be made available as soon as they are received from the organizing school. Whilst this is voluntary, the girls in Grade 4-7 who run in the ‘fast group’ every Wednesday, must participate in at least 2 of the races as they are Micklefield’s Inter-Schools Team and will be participating in the Inter-Schools Competition later in September. Any girls, from Grade 1-7 may participate.
Those girls who choose to participate will need to meet Ms Blackbeard at the venue each Friday at 14.30. The race times are staggered, starting at 15.00 with the U7s. Parents of Grade 1 and 2 girls who wish to participate must give their names to Sandi Blackbeard via email or whatsapp by the Thursday of each week. Girls in Grade 3 – 7 will need to give their names to Ms Blackbeard by the Thursday of each week as name tags need to be prepared.
Please see the information on the Adana App, under Documents, Sport.
The Grade 6s thoroughly enjoyed constructing different modules and exploring what the volume of an object is.
The Grade 3s enjoyed experiencing the mysteries of Science at the Cape Town Science Centre. The outing included building walls in the construction site, building electrical circuits and an explosive science show. They enjoyed a day of fun and learning.
