sport & extra-murals

The 2023 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning.

SPORTS DAY: GRADE 00 – Grade 7

This is a compulsory event for all the pupils in our school.  It is an early start at 07.00 with the House marches and the first event getting underway immediately after that.  The Grade 00 and Grade 0 classes are the only grades who may leave at the tea-break, approximately 09.15.  The rest of the school remains until the end with prize-giving at approximately 11.30/11.45.  Please see the order of events as well as all the information regarding Sports Day under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals.

The class reps will be asking for assistance with roster duties for bacon and egg duty as well as the Halaal boerewors rolls and the cooldrink stand.  Please all get on board in order to make this a success.

PRIVATELY RUN EXTRA-MURALS: ALL GRADES (00 – 7)

All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer are available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

TENNIS PRACTICES:

For private tennis lessons, please find the BVTS Micklefield Tennis Academy information in the Adana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  We are wanting one coaching style for our girls so we can build our teams to be strong and competitive.

GALA SWIMMING TRAINING:

All information regarding the gala, together with the team list will be sent out on Wednesday via your class Whatsapp group.

weekly snapshots

Congratulations to Dani O’Ryan who ran the Under Milkwood 5km race on Sunday and finished 2nd overall. Well done to Ms Alison Smith and Mrs Gail Fargher who also competed in the 21km and 10km respectively!
Hannah Eachus and Arianna Yakoob have chosen to support a Horse Rescue Shelter in Noordhoek, called Tom Ro Haven for their Entrepreneurial Project. Last Friday there was a break in and they lost R60 000 worth of equipment and the girls rose to the occasion and collected donations from their commununity. Here they are handing over the items to Gill, the founder of TomRo Haven. Well done girls, we are so proud of you.
We are delighted to welcome our new singing teacher, Babette Viljoen, to the Micklefield Music Department! Babette is a singer and songwriter. She composes music for various occasions. She is also one of the directors of the production house: BO Produksies. Babette also plays the accordion, church organ, piano and the bass guitar.
Thank you to our lovely musicians for starting our week on a happy note: Juliette Peter and Emily Shrimpton (Recorders), Jessica Clegg and Zara Mullaji (Piano)

In Grade 1 show and tell we were privileged to meet Isabelle’s pet gecko, Ginger Spice. She is an arboreal gecko so she is very good at climbing and jumping. We got to feed her live crickets for her breakfast which was very exciting.

Grade 3s working together to create insect posters.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day, we had some matching pairs: Samiah and Samiqa Vermeulen; Mrs Amy Dey with her daughters, Grace and Lily; Mrs Ayesha Dollie and Ayesha Mohamed

n celebration of 95 years and Valentine’s Day, Micklefield was transformed into a sea of pink, white, and red. Each grade decorated their classroom doors with affirmations of love – for friends, for family, and for their school.
The Grade 7 Leadership portfolios hosted a bake sale, treated the staff to a delicious tea, and paid a visit to the Rondebosch Police Station.
