2023 textbook orders

Please note that textbooks from Caxton will not be delivered to Micklefield this year as per their new order system. CIVVIES DAY - 25 NOVEMBER 2022

sport & extra-murals

2023 Sport & Extra-Mural Programme

The 2023 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning.

There have been a number of changes to times and days of certain extra-murals, especially school run extra-murals in order to accommodate sport, choirs and marimbas.

SCHOOL RUN EXTRA-MURALS: GRADE 3 – 7

Please note that during Terms 1 and 4 there is a compulsory Sport Hour for all Grade 3 – 7 pupils.  The Grade 3 lesson takes place during the school day, but the Grade 4 -7 takes place from 14.30 – 15.30.

This falls away in Terms 2 and 3 in order to accommodate the winter sports.

It is compulsory for all girls from Grade 3-7 to do at least one winter sport, but both hockey and netball is encouraged as we enter 2 teams into the leagues and must have enough players to fill these teams.

Cross-country training is compulsory for all Grade 3-7 pupils and this takes place during second break on Wednesdays.  We will be asking for parents to volunteer to be marshals at this time to keep our girls safe on the road.  Further info will go out nearer the time.

There will be a hired bus to take the Grade 4-7 hockey players to practice on Tuesdays at WPCC.  This is during the school day. Parents then collect directly from WPCC at 14.45.

There will also be a hired bus to take the Grade 5 -7 girls to netball practice on Monday afternoons at RGHS.  Parents then collect directly from RGHS at 16.00.

COMPULSORY SPORT HOUR DAYS AND TIMES 2023

  • Grade 3:  Tuesdays         13.30 – 14.30
  • Grade 4:  Thursdays       14.30 – 15.30
  • Grade 5:  Mondays         14.30 – 15.30
  • Grade 6:  Wednesdays   14.30 – 15.30
  • Grade 7:  Tuesdays         14.30 – 15.30

PRIVATELY RUN EXTRA-MURALS: ALL GRADES

All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer are available on the Edana App under Documentation.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

For Grade 00, Grade 0 and Grade 1 and Grade 2, many of the private extra-mural providers do a demo lesson during the school day at the start of the term so the girls will get the chance to experience what is on offer.

We are very excited to introduce a new extra-mural, Sport Hub which offers a multi-sport programme aimed at ensuring competence in our pupils.  They run a structured programme starting with Grade 00s and Grade 0s and then Grade 1, 2 and 3s.  It is a build on from Playball and will be an excellent extra-mural especially for our Grade 0, 1 and 2 pupils.

We have also added yoga and the Christian Club to our extra-mural programme.

TENNIS PRACTICES:

Although league matches have finished, the early morning practices will continue and finish on Monday, 28 November, Tuesday, 29 November and Wednesday 30 November for the respective groups.

As trials/challenge matches will only be held in the first week and first Saturday of the first term 2023, tentative lists will be emailed to parents before the end of this term stating the day of your daughter’s early morning practice for 2023, however this could change once the trials are complete.

GALA SWIMMING TRAINING:

The last gala for this term will be on Friday, 25 November at Oakhurst.  This will mark the end of the swimming season for 2022.  Trials will be held again at the start of next year for the gala squad.  We will need any Grade 2s who are able to swim a length of a 25m pool in any stroke to attend these trials as we have to have an U8 team!
