Weekly Update

August 26, 2022

22 – 26 August 2022

weekly udpate

The Grade 7 Robins Leadership Portfolio are holding a Pyjama Day on Monday 22 August to raise funds for their end-of-year gift to the school. Please see the flyer and snapscan QR code below.

In order to reduce the amount of food wastage from unwanted lunchboxes that end up in the bins, girls are able to give their unwanted food into their class teachers and the food is delivered daily to homeless people in need.

Shocking Pink will be performing alongside the highly regarded adult ensemble, Vocal Unity.  We invite the Micklefield community to support this live event:

  • Date:                Tuesday 30 August
  • Venue:              Christ Church Constantia, Constantia Main Road
  • Starting time:    19h00

Tickets will be sold at the door for R50 each. The proceeds will go towards the Constantia Heritage and Education Project.

As per previous communication, we are phasing in the wearing of black school shoes to replace the brown shoes. The School Shop now has stock of black shoes in some sizes and one can also purchase from other retail stores. The brown shoes need only be replaced when new shoes are needed.

Please be advised that all school photos up to and including 2020 will be permanently removed from the That’s Me website on 31 August 2022. Please place final orders (on the website) before 31 August 2022 to ensure you secure photos of your child’s school career before they are removed.

Micklefield will be participating in the CT Marimba Festival at the Baxter Theatre on Saturday 17 September. See flyer below for details.

weekly snapshots

The Grade 00s and Grade 0s went to sing at The Manor in Pinelands on Wednesday morning as part of their Micklefield Birthday celebrations. The girls sang with gusto and the ‘oldies’ were thoroughly entertained!
The Grade 6s delivered 74 teddies to the Red Cross Children’s War Memorial Hospital. Each teddy was given with tons of love from our Micklefield girls.

Grade 2 and Grade 6 Birthday collaboration making cards for the children at Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

Grade 3s washed, peeled, chopped and packaged soup ingredients for The Haven Night Shelter

The Grade 5s spent time making sandwiches in support of Ladles of Love.

The 1s visited Avondrust Retirement Home for their Birthday outing. The girls sang to the residents and brought them some flowers, treats and cards. The ladies at the home absolutely loved making contact with the girls and really enjoyed listening to them sing.

Thank you to all for the incredible support for our Birthday Beanie drive. 231 beanies have been donated towards the “Beanies for Bridges” initiative for vulnerable teenagers at the Bridges Retreat Centre in Franshoek.

And what is a Birthday without cake? HAPPY 94th BIRTHDAY MICKLEFIELD SCHOOL!

Thank you to our weekly Snack Pack volunteers for prepping the orders and for joining in the Birthday Beanie fun!

We are so fortunate to be treated to the most beautiful performances by our young musicians early on Assembly days.

Thank you to our Juniors: Olivia Dunsby, Juliette Peter (Recorders) Maya Hayes,

and Seniors: Grace Wilkinson, Hana Salie and Ava Klerck (Piano)
