LOST PROPERTY

We are appealing to parents to PLEASE mark your daughter’s items of clothing.  We are still sitting with piles of unmarked items which are now going to be handed over to the Second Hand Shop to be sold.  Going forward, we will return items that are marked to the pupil, but ant unmarked items will be given to the Second Hand Shop.

SECOND-HAND UNIFORM shop

Save the Date! for the final sale of the year on 1 December. We are low on stock and would appreciate donations which can be handed in at reception. Alison Hayes will not be at Micklefield next year to run the shop and we are looking for a parent volunteer to take over from her. We would like to thank Alison for running it so well over the past few years. It is a fantastic service to our parents and at the same time a fundraiser for our Financial Aid Fund.

WEEKLY SNAPSHOTS

Drama girls looking rather nervous (although they really don’t need to be) as Friday 21 October they take their Trinity College Practical Drama Exams.

The Grade 6 Entrepreneurship Programme are wrapping up their year-long entrepreneurship efforts and are handing over their fundraising efforts to their organisations.  In assembly this week, Asmaa Dawood handed over to the Children’s Hospital Trust (Top Left) and Daniella Barow, Sophie Schelhause and Hanna  McDavid hand over to Green Connection.

Well done to Sue Walker and Tracy Howie for organising a fantastic Gr 7 Maths Relay event at Micklefield this past week. It comprised of mixed teams of 4 from participating schools. A huge amount of fun was had by all!

In line with our quest to encourage our girls to read South African literature, the Foundation Phase girls were treated to a theatrical performance on Wednesday.  MR HARE MEETS MR MANDELA was a charming adaptation of the heroic tale of the Hare who cannot read who goes on an adventure to find the man on the R200.00 note, Mr Nelson Mandela.  Lovingly adapted for the stage by Daniel Geddes the cast of four brought this story to life.  It was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Thank you to everyone who came out to De Grendel on Saturday to support our fundraiser.  The weather held, the views were magnificent and great fun was had by all. Thanks to all the generous donations we raised R50 000 towards our School Bus!
