2023 Sport & Extra-Mural Programme

The 2023 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning.

There have been a number of changes to times and days of certain extra-murals, especially school run extra-murals in order to accommodate sport, choirs and marimbas.

SCHOOL RUN EXTRA-MURALS: GRADE 3 – 7

Please note that during Terms 1 and 4 there is a compulsory Sport Hour for all Grade 3 – 7 pupils.  The Grade 3 lesson takes place during the school day, but the Grade 4 -7 takes place from 14.30 – 15.30. This falls away in Terms 2 and 3 in order to accommodate the winter sports.

It is compulsory for all girls from Grade 3-7 to do at least one winter sport, but both hockey and netball is encouraged as we enter 2 teams into the leagues and must have enough players to fill these teams.

Cross-country training is compulsory for all Grade 3-7 pupils and this takes place during second break on Wednesdays.  We will be asking for parents to volunteer to be marshals at this time to keep our girls safe on the road.  Further info will go out nearer the time.

There will be a hired bus to take the Grade 4-7 hockey players to practice on Tuesdays at WPCC.  This is during the school day. Parents then collect directly from WPCC at 14.45.

There will also be a hired bus to take the Grade 5 -7 girls to netball practice on Monday afternoons at RGHS.  Parents then collect directly from RGHS at 16.00.

COMPULSORY SPORT HOUR DAYS AND TIMES 2023

  • Grade 3:  Tuesdays         13.30 – 14.30
  • Grade 4:  Thursdays       14.30 – 15.30
  • Grade 5:  Mondays         14.30 – 15.30
  • Grade 6:  Wednesdays   14.30 – 15.30
  • Grade 7:  Tuesdays         14.30 – 15.30

PRIVATELY RUN EXTRA-MURALS: ALL GRADES

All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer are available on the Edana App under Documentation.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

  • For Grade 00, Grade 0 and Grade 1 and Grade 2, many of the private extra-mural providers do a demo lesson during the school day at the start of the term so the girls will get the chance to experience what is on offer.
  • We are very excited to introduce a new extra-mural, Sport Hub which offers a multi-sport programme aimed at ensuring competence in our pupils.  They run a structured programme starting with Grade 00s and Grade 0s and then Grade 1, 2 and 3s.  It is a build on from Playball and will be an excellent extra-mural especially for our Grade 0, 1 and 2 pupils.
  • We have also added yoga and the Christian Club to our extra-mural programme.

COMPULSORY SPORTS HOUR: GRADE 4 – 7

The compulsory Sports Hour for Grade 4 – 7 is now complete for this term.  There is no Sports Hour for Grade 4-7 next week.  The Grade 3 Sport Hour on Tuesday continues as usual as it is during the school day.

TENNIS PRACTICES:

Although league matches have finished, the early morning practices will continue and finish on Monday, 28 November, Tuesday, 29 November and Wednesday 30 November for the respective groups.

As trials/challenge matches will only be held in the first week and first Saturday of the first term 2023, tentative lists will be emailed to parents before the end of this term stating the day of your daughter’s early morning practice for 2023, however this could change once the trials are complete.

GALA SWIMMING TRAINING:

Gala training and Friday galas are now complete for this year.  Trials will be held again at the start of next year for the gala squad.  We will need any Grade 2s who are able to swim a length of a 25m pool in any stroke to attend these trials as we have to have an U8 team!

private holiday club

The Green Kids Holiday Clubs run throughout the year, and on the first and last Saturday of the month, from Feb to Nov each year.  We have been going for 2 years now, and have fully booked holiday programmes, and have therefore added an older age group (10-12 year olds) this year. We thus offer fun nature education in nature, with peer interaction, learning about ecosystems and life in our own back gardens, through input, craft, and fun games all based on the Project theme.   Healthy snacks (including garden produce!) to suit all diets, are included. Please see flyer below.

The Grade 00 and Grade 0 Playball girls were treated to visit by Sporty, the Playball mascot this week!  Together with Simba, our fantastic Playball coach, he handed out certificates, medals and a treat to each ‘Playballer’.

Our Grade 7 gala swimmers at the last early morning practice on Thursday at the RBHS pool!

Our Big Girls joined their Little Girls for their last Phys-Ed lesson. They had such fun together!
