GRADE 7 COSTUME DAY – mONDAY 31 oCT

The Grade 7 Cultural Committee are hosting a Costume Day on Monday 31 October for all grades. R15 Cash / Snapscan (see QR code on the poster below) to dress in your most creative and outrageous outfit.

End of year TOY COLLECTION

It has become traditional for us to collect good quality secondhand gifts of toys and books for children in the hospitals during the holiday period.  A cuddly teddy bear or a soft toy brings a lot of comfort to the littlies who cannot be with their families. The Children’s Hospital Trust has asked us this year for the gifts not to be wrapped please and gave us these guidelines for your kind attention:

  • New soft toys, educational toys, games books, art and stationery items.
  • Pre-used educational toys, lego, musical instruments and toy cars can be accepted if clean and in good repair.
  • Magazines and pre-used books for children will be accepted if clean and in a good condition.

PARKING

Please be considerate to neighbours when parking and do not park in front of driveways. We received a complaint from a neighbour this week that a Micklefield parent had parked her out of her own home in Lea Road!

SECOND-HAND UNIFORM shop

Alison Hayes has run the second hand uniform shop for some years and we would like to thank her for all the time she has invested in getting it running so slickly. It is a great service to parents as well as a lovely fundraiser for our Financial Aid Fund. The Hayes family will be leaving Micklefield at the end of the year, and we are looking for a parent volunteer/s who is keen to assist Salma Bray from next year. Please contact Joanne Tudhope joanne@micklefield.co.za if you are keen.

The final sale of the year will be on 1 December. The shop is needing a stock boost and would appreciate your donations!

LOST PROPERTY

We are appealing to parents to PLEASE mark your daughter’s items of clothing.  We are still sitting with piles of unmarked items which are now going to be handed over to the Second Hand Shop to be sold.  Going forward, we will return items that are marked to the pupil, but any unmarked items will be given to the Second-Hand Shop.

SCHOOL CAPS/HATS

Micklefield caps/hats are a compulsory clothing item and all girls must have a cap/hat at school to wear at break time, Phys Ed lessons and Sport Hour.

GR 1-7, 2023 BACK TO SCHOOL STATIONERY & TEXTBOOK

Please note that Textbook online orders from Caxton need to be placed asap. Orders placed in January cannot be guaranteed delivery by the start of the school year. According to Caxton’s new system, Textbooks will not be delivered to school, there is an option for home delivery or to collect directly from Caxton themselves.

Online orders for Gr 1-7 Back to School Stationery are open and grade lists have been e-mailed to parents. Stationery orders close on 8 November and collection from school is on 22 November.

OUTLIERS STATIONERY DRIVE

Please consider donating any unwanted gently used, good quality stationery to Outliers for their annual stationery drive. 20 house points will be awarded for every donation brought to the class teacher. Outliers run after-school programmes across the peninsula.

Please check the Term 4 schedule (Edana App under Documentation) for the summer sport programme.

weekly snapshots

Congratulations to our General Knowledge Team for achieving second place in the final round of the Peninsula Inter-Schools General Knowledge Quiz, hosted at Bishops Preparatory School this week. It was a spirited evening with 10 teams from various schools competing. The team, comprising of Grade 6s and 7s, were awarded medals and The Runner Up Owl Trophy. Well done girls on this amazing achievement!
Grade 7s loving their cookery classes with Mevrou!
Thank you to our Grade 00 Snack Pack mums and dad for this week's prep!

Grade 3 loved their introduction to Lego Prime Essential. They created and coded a Carousel. They enjoyed experimenting with the coding, making the carousel change direction and adding sound to their creation.

Grade 4s are working hard with the filming and production of their Stop Motion animated movies about an adventure in Space.

The first theme of the Gr 00 term has been Spring and nature has certainly delivered with the trees in our playground full of fresh new leaves.  Our silkworms have provided hours of learning over the past few months and our beans have rapidly grown from seeds to seedlings growing in the garden!

The Grade 7s hosted a fantastic Games Day for the Grades 3-6s. A huge amount of fun was had and they demonstrated their savvy entrepreneurial skills and raised R6000 towards their gift to the school. Well done girls!

hank you to Scarlett Buys for the beautiful piano performance in Junior Assembly!
Well done to Amani Shaik for her lovely piano performance in the Senior Assembly.
