SUMMER PICNIC

Avoid the queues at the door and book your tickets through Quicket: Ticket Bookings

Please note that online bookings through Quicket will close a day before the event, on Thursday 7 March at 12:00. Tickets will be available at the door cash/snapscan.

STOP AND GO – WOOD ROAD

Please note that there is a Stop and Go system in place during peak drop off time in the parking lot at Wood Road. Please do not get out of your car as this creates congestion. Should you wish to get out of your car to assist your daughter or walk her to the school gate, please rather park your car in order to do so. Thank you for your co-operation in this which will greatly assist Menezi (Theo) in facilitating the smooth flow of traffic.

A reminder to please send in your completed contributions form that was e-mailed to parents last week. This will greatly assist the reps in their planning.

  • I would like to donate the following prizes/donations towards the Lucky Draw. Click on the
link to pledge your prize: Lucky Draw Prizes
  • The Games Stalls need your prize donations! They need lots of prizes of all sizes  (small/medium/large-ish). Donations can be dropped at reception or in the box in the Grade 1 classroom.

Sport & extra-murals

The updated 2024 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning. All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer is available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

GUM GUARDS

Jeanne-Marie Engelbrecht will be delivering the gum guards on Tuesday, 5 March so if anyone would still like to order, she will be able to take impressions on Tuesday.  These are expensive custom-made gum guards and are more suited to older girls. Shop-bought gum guards are absolutely fine for the hockey season. Forms have been handed out to any interested girls this week. Completed forms and proof of payment must be given to Sandi Blackbeard by Monday, 3 March.

SWIMMING

  • Tuesday, 5 March at Herschel Senior School pool – Inter-Schools gala (U10 – U13)

Info for this gala has gone out via the class Whatsapp groups.  Arrival at the Herschel Senior School pool may only be after 15.30 for 15.45.  No-one may be at the pool earlier than this.  As this is the official Inter-Schools gala there will be warm ups, then each school gets to do a ‘cheer’ and the gala will officially start at 16.30 and end at approximately 18.00.  All swimmers must stay for the prize-giving.

  • Friday, 8 March at St Cyprians – Please note this extra gala in place of Fri, 23 February. We are aware that this is the Summer Picnic, but that only starts at 17.30

Please note that there will be no early morning swimming on Tuesday, 5 March for the U11, U12 and U13 swimmers.  There will be no gala training at RGHS for the U8, U9 and U10 group on Tuesday afternoon due to the Inter-Schools gala.  The last early morning swimming for the U11, U12 and U13 girls will be on Thursday, 7 March and the last Tuesday afternoon swimming for the U8, U9 and U10 swimmers will be on Tuesday, 12 March.

TENNIS

Congratulations to our Open A tennis team who competed in the Herschel Summer Festival tennis tournament last Friday, 23 February.  The team played doubles with our A couple, Sophie Burchell and Ava Brotchie winning their section and our B couple, Sofiya Variawa and Ava Klerck winning the B section so a clean sweep for Micklefield.  Well done, girls!

Open A Tennis Team
Micklefield U11C tennis team drew 2-2 with The Grove U11A.

weekly snapshots

We were treated to an inspiring talk by Scottish author, Nadine Aisha Jassat. Our girls loved the very interactive session and were proud of the story they created in a matter of minutes with Nadine.  Her latest book The Stories Grandma Forgot (and How I Found Them) is a beautiful poetic read that will resonate with every reader.

Grade 1 had their first Robotics lesson, this week! They worked so well with their partners building and coding a boat launcher. There are certainly some budding engineers in this class.

Grade 7s dissecting flowers to learn about reproduction in angiosperms.

Some snap shots in Grade 0- exploring our theme on shapes

Q is for Quill: Ink and quills- some old school writing in Grade 0

Congratulation to Lisa Lawson on her upcoming 50th birthday! Wishing you a fabulous year ahead.

We were treated to the most impressive solo Piano performances at assembly by these talented musicians: Left to right: Dani O’ Ryan, Isabella van Koesveld, Scarlett Buys and Keira Lee Pan.

Grade 2s spreading the love with the Grade 00s for colour week.
