School video-shoot: Tuesday 7 February

There will be a school video shoot on Tuesday 7 February. Please can all Grade 1-7s wear their full summer uniform with hair neatly tied back. Those who have sport on Tuesday are asked to please bring their Phys Ed uniforms with them to school.

One-way system in Wood Road

There is a one-way system in place at Wood Road during peak drop-off and pick-up times. The direction is from Sandown Road into Wood Road and is only for Micklefield parents. Please use this system to assist with traffic flow and please do not park in front of neighbours driveways preventing them from entering and leaving their own property.

School bags

We have noticed a number of non-school branding creeping in on school bags. With regards to school bags (Gr 1-7), our uniform policy states that girls may use the Micklefield branded school bag available from the School Shop or a plain school bag without any branding may also be used. For reference, the School Uniform Policy is available on the Edana App under Documentation.

Gr 1 & 2 swimming costumes

Lighter pink swimming costumes are being sold at the School Shop for R150.00 each. Size 24 and Size 26 are available in this older stock which should fit Grades 1 and 2.

security company

We are changing security companies but Menezi (Theo) will continue to work at Micklefield. There will be an additional security guard from the new company (Princeton) who will work alongside Menezi at the beginning of February.

sport & extra-murals

2023 Sport & Extra-Mural Programme

The 2023 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning.

There have been a number of changes to times and days of certain extra-murals, especially school run extra-murals in order to accommodate sport, choirs and marimbas.

SPORTS DAY: GRADE 00 – Grade 7

This is a compulsory event for all the pupils in our school.  It is an early start at 07.00 with the House marches and the first event getting underway immediately after that.  The Grade 00 and Grade 0 classes are the only grades who may leave at the tea-break, approximately 09.15.  The rest of the school remains until the end with prize-giving at approximately 11.30/11.45.  Please see the order of events under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals.

The class reps will be asking for assistance with roster duties for bacon and egg duty as well as the Halaal boerewors rolls and the cooldrink stand.  Please all get on board in order to make this a success.

PRIVATELY RUN EXTRA-MURALS: ALL GRADES (00 – 7)

All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer are available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

TENNIS PRACTICES:

For private tennis lessons, please find the BVTS Micklefield Tennis Academy information in the Adana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  We are wanting one coaching style for our girls so we can build our teams to be strong and competitive.

GALA SWIMMING TRAINING:

All information regarding the gala, together with the team list will be sent out on Wednesday via your class Whatsapp group.

HOCKEY TOUR TRIALS:

Trials for the Knysna hockey tour will be held on Saturday, 11 February at the Bishops Senior School Astro from 08.30 – 11.30.  Any U12 and U13 girls who would like to try out, must attend.  A letter has been sent home as well as a whatsapp message with all the relevant information.  We will have at least 2 senior full field hockey teams this season and we will need at least 2 goalies.  We cannot play without goalies so please chat to your daughters about this position if they are keen.
