2023 Sport & Extra-Mural Programme

The 2023 sport and extra-mural programme is available on the Edana App, under Documentation.  Please check both the Term 1 and 4 (Summer) and the Term 2 and 3 (Winter) schedules when doing your planning.

SPORTS DAY: GRADE 00 – Grade 7

This is a compulsory event for all the pupils in our school.  It is an early start at 07.00 (all pupils must be here by 06.45) with the House marches and the first event getting underway immediately after that.  The Grade 00 and Grade 0 classes are the only grades who may leave at the tea-break, approximately 09.15.  The rest of the school remains until the end with prize-giving at approximately 11.30/11.45.  Hard copies have been sent home with all the girls. Please see the order of events as well as all the information regarding Sports Day under Documentation, Sport/Extra-Murals.

Please ensure that all girls wear takkies and hats which must be clearly marked!

PRIVATELY RUN EXTRA-MURALS: ALL GRADES (00 – 7)

All information with regards to the private extra-murals on offer are available on the Edana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  Please liaise directly with the extra-mural providers.

TENNIS PRACTICES:

For private tennis lessons, please find the BVTS Micklefield Tennis Academy information in the Adana App under Documentation, Sport/Extra-murals.  We are wanting one coaching style for our girls so we can build our teams to be strong and competitive.  Early morning tennis practices for this term will finish on Friday, 17 March.

GALA SWIMMING TRAINING:

All information regarding the gala, together with the team list was sent out via the class Whatsapp group on Wednesday.  The Inter-Schools gala for U10 – Open will be held on Monday, 6 March at the Herschel Senior School pool.  All swimmers must be there at 15.30.  The gala is from 16.15 – 18.00.  All swimmers must remain for the prize-giving.

Gala training for all age groups is now complete for the term.

HOCKEY GUM GUARDS

Jeanne-Marie Engelbrecht will be coming to Micklefield on Wednesday, 8 March to fit gum guards for hockey for those who wish to purchase them.  These are custom made and are more expensive than the normal shop bought gum guards so they are not compulsory, but for those who wish to buy them.  It is not recommended for the Grade 1s, 2s and possibly 3s as their teeth are still growing and mouth shape forming.

All forms must be returned to Sandi Blackbeard by Tuesday, 7 March with POP.

Forms have been handed out to interested pupils and are also available on the Edana app under Sport/Extra-murals.

SPORTS HOUR: GRADE 4 – 7

The last week of Sports Hour will be the week of Monday 13 – Thursday, 16 March.  There will be no Sports Hour for Grade 4 – 7 in the last two weeks of school.  The Grade 3 Sport Hour continues as usual as it is during the school day.
